Russian Revolution colt named Rovno Amber

Updated: Nov 18, 2022

Our Russian Revolution x Precious Gem colt trained by Shane Nichols has now been named Rovno Amber. Taken from a Ukrainian stone that can also be found in Belarus.

There was some excellent names put forward and Rovno Amber won the ownership vote.

He will head to the paddock after feeling his shins a little after a recent Mornington Jump Out.

"TBB Racing has a small group together involved in the colt and we are very happy with how he is progressing," TBB Racing's Todd Blum said.

"We never thought he was going to be a pre-Christmas two-year-old and Shane was always taking it week by week with him, letting him tell us how far he would go this time in.

"The Jump Out was solely for educational purposes and he wasn't asked to do too much at all.

"He will head out for a break and then be back in work and hopefully at the races in the new year."

Shane Nichols purchased Rovno Amber at this year's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $250,000. Bred by the China Horse Club, he was offered by Sledmere Stud.

"He was a magnificent looking colt at the sales," Shane Nichols added.

"We said at the time if he were a human he would be a super model. He is such an attractive looking horse.

"His work has been good, he hasn't put a foot wrong. He's just developing into a heavy sort so we will have to be careful with him out in the paddock as we want to give him every chance to race as a colt."

His Jump Out at Mornington was won by another Shane Nichols-trained colt that TBB also have a small interest in.

The Hellbent x Moojeh colt, purchased at the same sale, was very impressive with his piece of work, hardly being touched throughout.

He looks a very sharp colt and will possibly be running before the new year.

"TBB has a small percentage in the Hellbent colt that won the Jump Out so it is certainly exciting times ahead for these two colts," Blum added.

Rovno Amber is by reigning Champion First Season Sire Russian Revolution and is out of the Group 1-winning mare Precious Gem.
