Shane Nichols has no reason to doubt the ability of an unnamed Deep Field (Northern Meteor) two-year-old colt, the first foal out his Group 1-winning filly I Am A Star (I Am Invincible).
Bred by Kingstar Farm’s Matthew Sandblom, who raced I Am A Star, the colt was bought by Nichols for $800,000 at this year’s Magic Millions January sale. Sandblom retains a significant stake in the juvenile who has impressed the trainer in his education to date.
“He rolls up pretty quickly, he’s got a bit of talent, and he might just have a baby jump-out next week at Mornington,” Nichols said.
“He’s not a pre-Christmas two-year-old, I don’t think, but he’s a pretty nice horse. He’s certainly got some power and a good attitude.”
