Japanese imort Mozu Marcassin wasted no time getting the new season off to a winning start for TBB Racing and the TBB Derby Day Syndicate. The win at Swan Hill was the second in a row for the promising stayer.

Trained by Matt Cumani and raced principally by Rising Sun Syndicate, Mozu Marcassin looks to have a very exciting future here in Australia. A late-maturing type in Japan, he was purchased by Rising Sun who are doing an excellent job of selecting these horses to continue their careers in down under.

Now a five-year-old, he has won two of his four Australian starts, one of which was on a bottomless Warrnambool track that Matt Cumani has rightly chosen to 'never mention again'. That is also the last we will speak of it.

Mozu Marcassin was given a great ride form Eoin Walsh, who although may be underrated by many, certainly isn't by us. Knowing that Mozu can get a 'bit lost' when he heads the horse in front and doesn't really know how to put them away, he timed his run to perfection.

Matt Cumani was also pleased with the ride and if we can continue to build this horse's confidence then he will be winning a lot more races by a bigger margin.

Mozu Marcassin will likely head to the paddock after this run but will be kept in work for a week or two to see how he comes through the run.
