Unusual Pearl makes Australian debut a winning one

Unusual Pearl was an impressive winner at Kilmore on Thursday in her first start for Tony and Calvin McEvoy with Dean Holland on board.

It was her first start in Australia after being purchased out of New Zealand by the MyRachorse team an co.

TBB Racing were fortunate enough to be invited into a syndicate a week or so out from her touted country debut.

We were rapt to see her win so well from a brilliant ride with Dean Holland. She was tardy away and Dean was able to urge forward from the jump which resulted with her settling her a lot closer.

Dean made a mid race move, which proved to be the winning one, and Unusual Pearl fought to the line.

Whispering Lady tried to throw down a challenge in the straight, but our filly was up to it and fought to the line.

Feature fillies races over the South Australian Carnival are now firmly on the agenda for the three-year-old.

"Races such as The Auroria Stakes, SA Fillies Classic and Australasian Oaks were all proposed as targets when she arrived across the Tasman," TBB's Todd Blum said.

"When we are racing horses we are always looking to aim high at races such as these and it is exciting to have a share in a filly that looks as though she will measure up."

Unusual Pearl is by Unusual Suspect and had one start in New Zealand where she finished third.

Well done to all of our fellow connections.
