Calyx (GB) x Try Pink
'22 Colt

Trainer: Brian McGrath (Pakenham)

Calyx has made a great start to his stud career in both hemispheres. He sired six winners and had a Group-placed horse from limited numbers in his first crop of runners locally. North of the equator he sired 33 winners, three of them at Group level and a further three Group 1-performed horses.

Horses such as Earthstorm, Getafix and Husk have all performed in City races and there are bigger things in store as his first crop turns three. â€‹

A talented racehorse, Calyx possessed plenty of early speed that is so well suited to Australia. He was an unbeaten, Royal Ascot-winning two-year-old, claiming the Group 2 Coventry Stakes. He was a brilliant sprinter at three, and his Champion trainer couldn’t speak highly enough about his charge.

“Calyx always had that rare brilliance you only see in champions. His performances at Ascot at both two and three years were of the highest standard. He is a very similar type to his sire Kingman” - John Gosden.

This colt is out of New Approach mare Try Pink, a three-time winner in her own right and she's well-related. She is a half-sister to the dam of Pink Beau Ty, also trained by Brian McGrath.

This is a well-built colt with plenty of strength and substance. He looks like an early-going type, and true to the breed, he looks like an early runner.
